No more photos!

This lioness was not in the best mood when we found her. At first she was passively watching us, but when I started taking her picture her face changed to this. Guess she wasn't found of having her picture taken. After this shot she snapped took a more aggressive stance, so we just continued on the path and left her alone. This was taken at Out of Africa near Camp Verde, Arizona.

Vent

The first time I saw this was in Detroit, but I was unable to get a good picture of it. It just fascinated me, and I was happy when I was able to snap this shot on a chilly October morning in Washington, D.C.

Just out of reach

I swear this bird was teasing Loki. It was sitting on a limb just outside of our window and twittering away. It drove poor Loki nuts! She just stared out the bird, and then at the limb long after the bird flew away.

Rose Bush

A good friend of mine has some beautiful rose bushes in her backyard. When I visited yesterday they were just covered in roses. This was taken in Gilbert, Arizona.

Heavy Clouds

I loved the contrast between the sky and the deep green of the forests. This was taken while driving south from a trip up to the mountains, just outside of Payson, Arizona.

Orchid Tree

I visited my grandparents this weekend, and in their front yard is a beautiful orchid tree that is currently in full bloom. Here is a shot of just one of the many blossoms. This was taken in Mesa, Arizona.

The Lioness

I was walking by the lion enclosure when the lioness picked her head up to look in my direction. I fell in love with the look on her face, and managed to snap this picture before she laid back down on her rock. This was taken at the Phoenix Zoo.

Mystery Plant

Can you guess what this plant is? It lies under a waterfall at the bottom of the Tonto Natural Bridge. From a distance it looks maybe an odd moss or maybe some cat-tail. The closer you get, the more puzzling the plant appears. Any guess?

Its only early October, hardly even cold enough to warrant a light jacket. The waterfall had frozen the grass from the night before, and it still had not melted even though it was right around noon!

Long Days

I am sorry for the long absence. We moved this month, and when we arrived at the new place our ISP dropped the ball. This meant we have been without internet access for a week.

This picture pretty much sums out the week of moving and cleaning. My cat Loki took the opportunity to grab a comfy spot while we were working on boxing up for the move. Its so nice to find a comfy spot to relax in after a hard days work. And supervising a move is exhausting work for a poor little cat! :)

This was taken in Gilbert, Arizona.
